The Conjuring Last Rites (2025)

The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) is the ninth film in the Conjuring Universe and the final chapter in Ed and Lorraine Warren’s story. Set in 1986, it follows the Warrens as they investigate the infamous Smurl haunting in Pennsylvania, where a cursed mirror unleashes terrifying demonic forces on a family. The film begins with a flashback to 1964, showing Judy Warren’s traumatic birth after Lorraine shatters a haunted mirror, tying her life to the supernatural. Years later, Judy—now grown and experiencing her own psychic abilities—becomes central to the case as visions of Annabelle and other horrors haunt her. When the Smurl family faces violent paranormal attacks, the Warrens are drawn out of retirement. Their investigation reveals the mirror as the source of evil, leading to a climactic battle in which Ed, Lorraine, and Judy confront the demon together, ultimately shattering the mirror and restoring peace. The movie closes with Judy’s wedding to Tony Spera, bringing back characters from earlier Conjuring films and providing a heartfelt farewell to the saga. Loosely inspired by real events, Last Rites blends supernatural terror with emotional themes of faith, family, and legacy.
